    It places a strong emphasis on prediction and timing, using the positions and movements of the planets to identify periods of change, opportunity, challenge, and growth.

  3. 03 — The sidereal zodiac

    Following the stars

    Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, which follows the seasons. Jyotish uses the sidereal zodiac, which follows the stars, creating a difference of about 24° across the 360° zodiac.

  4. 04 — Nakshatras

    27 lunar mansions

    Jyotish also looks closely at the Moon, using 27 sections of the sky called nakshatras.
